The virtue of fasting ‘Ashoora’
Why Do Muslims Fast the day of 'Ashura? Why was the day of 'Ashura made for Moosa (peace be upon him) only, and no day was made for Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) or for ‘Eesa (peace be upon him)?

Can a Menstruating Woman Make Up 'Ashura Fasting If She Misses It?If a woman is in impure condition on 9th 10th and 11th of Muharram, due to which she cannot fast, is it possible to make up those fast on other days after her ghusl?
Why Is It Recommended to Fast on the 11th of Muharram as well as 'Ashura?I have read all the hadiths about the day of 'Ashura, but I did not find in any of them that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) indicated that we should fast on the eleventh (of Muharram) in order to be different from the Jews. Rather he said: “If I live until next year, I shall certainly fast the ninth and the tenth” in order to be different from the Jews. And he (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) did not direct his companions to fast on the eleventh. Based on that, is it not an innovation (bid‘ah) to do something that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and his companions did not do? If someone misses the fast on the ninth, is it sufficient for him to fast the tenth?

Will the person who intends to fast 'Ashura during the day be rewarded for his fasting?I know of the virtue of fasting the day of 'Ashura, and that it is expiation for the year that came before. But because we use the Gregorian calendar I did not know when 'Ashura is until the morning of the day itself. I had not eaten anything, so I intended to fast. Is my fast valid, and will I get the reward of this day and receive expiation for the previous year?.
Virtues of Fasting 'AshuraI heard that fasting the day of 'Ashura expiates for the past year, is this true? Does it expiate for everything, even major sins? What is the reason for venerating this day?.
Can I Fast Ashura Before Making Up Missed Ramadan Fasting?I still have days to make up for Ramadan and I want to fast 'Ashura’. Is it permissible for me to fast 'Ashura before I have made up the fasts I owe? Can I fast 'Ashura’ and the eleventh of Muharram with the intention of making up the Ramadan fasts, and will I get the reward for fasting 'Ashura’?.
Is It Recommended to Fast on the 9th of 'Ashura with the 10th?I want to fast 'Ashura this year, but some people told me that the Sunnah is to fast the day before as well (Taasoo’a’). Is there any report that this was the teaching of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)?
The ruling on wearing one's adornment on the Day of AashooraaI am a student in the girls college and there is a huge number of shiah living among us. Currently they are wearing black for the occasion of Aashooraa . Is it permissible for us in response to wear bright colours and extra adornment for the sole purpose of annoying them?! Is it permissible for us to backbite about them and pray against them, knowing that they have clearly expressed hatred for us? And I have seen one of them wearing amulets on which are written mysterious words and she had a stick in her hand with which she was pointing to one of the students, and I was harmed by that and am still being harmed. May Allaah reward you with good.
How do we know when 'Ashura is this year? How should we fast ‘Aa’shooraa’ this year? Until now, we do not know when the month begins or whether Dhu’l-Hijjah has twenty-nine or thirty days. How can we define when 'Ashura is and fast it?
Is It Permissible to Celebrate Ashura? What is the ruling on what people do on the day of Ashura, such as wearing kohl, taking a bath (ghusl), using henna, shaking hands with one another, cooking grains (huboob), showing their happiness and so on…? Has any saheeh hadeeth to that effect been narrated from the Prophet peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) or not? If there is no saheeh hadeeth to that effect, does doing these things constitute bid’ah, or not? What about the things that the other people do, such as mourning, grieving, going without anything to drink, eulogizing, wailing, rending their garments, etc.? Is there any basis for that or not?
