Knowledge & Propagation
She is a seeker of knowledge and is not sure whether she should seek knowledge or teach people, and she is asking for advice
I am twenty years old and a seeker of knowledge; I have memorized the Book of Allah, may He be exalted. Two years ago, I moved from Riyadh to al-Karak. I was very upset by what I saw of ignorance and failure to refer to sharee‘ah for judgement. I became very withdrawn and focused on seeking Islamic knowledge. Many of my teachers and friends in Riyadh criticized me for isolating myself, and they are encouraging me to go out and teach people and mix with them, as they say that I have the ability to convey the message effectively. But I am afraid of taking a position as a teacher at too early a stage, because I only have a little knowledge, and there is no one here who could supervise and advise me, and correct me if I make mistakes. I am afraid that the society here will influence me and I will not be steadfast, and I am very worried that the Shaytaan may mislead me and cause me to speak about Allah without knowledge, or make me feel self-admiration and show off. Please give me your advice.Ruling on memorizing Qur’an using the “five fortresses” method
What is the ruling on memorizing Qur’an using the “five fortresses” method? The ruling on seeking knowledge with the intention of refuting the specious arguments that are made against Islam
I love to seek knowledge for many reasons, one of which is that I hope that it will be a means of drawing closer to Allah, may He be exalted. I also hope that it will rid me of whispers and doubts, by Allah’s leave, and I hope that I will be able to teach people what they do not know. This last point has caused me some confusion, because I heard a hadith which some scholars regard as da‘eef (weak), but they regard its meaning as sound. It is: “Whoever seeks knowledge in order to show off to scholars and argue with the foolish…” Now I want to specialize in knowledge of refuting the specious arguments that have been produced in modern times, because I feel that the specious arguments are becoming widespread, and it is Allah Whose help we seek. Will I be included among those who argue with the foolish if I go and argue with people on Twitter and the like, and if I seek knowledge for that purpose, is it regarded as arguing with the foolish? He wants to teach his colleagues, but they turn away from him and are jealous of him
I think to myself that Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, has made me someone who loves to spread good and has a sincere intention, although I do not praise myself, and I sincerely want to spread good and knowledge among my colleagues, but because of matters having to do with jealousy and aversion on their part, I do not get any response from them. I want to know: Should I persist with them despite what I see and hear of jealousy, aversion and lack of acceptance? What can I do so that they will respond to me?Bad attitude on the part of the daa‘iyah is an obstacle to da‘wah
The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “There is nothing that will weigh more heavily in the balance of the believer on the Day of Resurrection than a good attitude, and verily Allah hates the foulmouthed person who speaks in an offensive manner.” And he (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Shall I not tell you of the dearest of you to Allah, and the ones who will be seated closest to me on the Day of Resurrection?” They said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah. He said: “The best of you in attitude.” Does a bad attitude invalidate faith or cancel it out? Does a bad attitude nullify good deeds? Or is bad attitude a sign of weakness of faith? What if a person who is a practising Muslim persists in having a bad attitude after being advised and warned? Is such a person regarded as persisting in sin? What is the harmful impact of a bad attitude on da‘wah or calling people to Allah, may He be glorified and exalted? Finally, what do we say to practising Muslims who persist in their shameful bad attitude and show bad manners towards Muslims who are sinners, and non-Muslims? Please advise us about these issues, may Allah bless you.Is the division and categorisation of knowledge a good innovation (bid‘ah hasanah)?
can the development of fiqh sciences and the various categorisations of fiqh be considered as Bidah Hasanah, likewise with classification of ahadith being daeef, hasan, saheeh etc, can these various categorisations be considered as 'good bid'ah'?
