It is not prescribed to say the iqaamah except in the case of the five obligatory prayers only
Question: 111742
Is it obligatory to recite the iqaamah for the naafil prayers?.
Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah and his family.
It is not prescribed to say
the iqaamah except in the case of the five obligatory prayers only. There is
no iqaamah for Eid prayers, prayers for rain (istisqa’), eclipse prayers
(salaat al-kusoof) or naafil prayers.
In Fataawa al-Lajnah
al-Daa’imah (7/234) it says: It is not prescribed to say the iqaamah
before naafil prayers, rather iqaamah is only prescribed for the five
obligatory prayers. End quote.
It also says (7/231): It is
not prescribed to recite the iqaamah for the naafil prayers at all, because
that is not mentioned in sharee’ah. End quote.
And Allaah knows best.
