If a man or a woman pray at home, should they say the adhaan and iqaamah for prayer?
Question: 146921
If a woman is praying at home, is it sufficient for her to recite the iqaamah only? If a man is too late to pray in the mosque and he prays at home — whether at the proper time or otherwise — is it sufficient for him to recite the iqaamah or does he have to say the adhaan and iqaamah?.
Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah and his family.
In the case of a man, the iqaamah is sufficient because he has heard the call to prayer and the Muslims have done it, so iqaamah is sufficient for him. In the case of a woman, she does not have to say the iqaamah or the adhaan. She should pray without either iqaamah or adhaan. End quote.
