Returning stolen money when amount unknown

Question: 21

I used to steal money on and off from my father’s pocket. Now I do not
know how much I stole, nor can I admit to him now. What shall I do?

Answer

Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah and his family.

Try and estimate to the best of your memory the total amount you have stolen, and return it. And there is no harm if you return it as secretly as you took it.
