I would like to know whether bleeding invalidates one’s wudu or not.
Does Bleeding Break Wudu?
Question: 2176
Summary of answer
The basic principle is that bleeding does not break wudu. Bleeding from any part of the body other than the vagina does not invalidate one’s wudu.
Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah and his family.
We know of no evidence to indicate that bleeding from any part of the body other than the vagina invalidates one’s wudu .
The basic principle is that bleeding does not break wudu . Acts of worship should be based on sound reports, so no one is permitted to say that any act of worship is prescribed by Islam unless he has evidence.
Some scholars suggested that wudu is broken if the amount of blood lost from any place other than the vagina is considered to be excessive. If a person in this condition does wudu in order to be on the safe side, then this is good. Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Leave that which makes you doubt for that which does not make you doubt.” (Reported by al-Nasai, 8/328; al-Tirmidhi, 7/221 Tuhfat al-Ahwadhi; al-Hakim, 2/13, 4/99)
And Allah knows best.
