The meeqaat for ‘Umrah for the people of Makkah

Question: 43065

From where should the people of Makkah enter ihraam for ‘Umrah? If their summer home is in al-Hada (which is beyond the meeqaat), where should they enter ihraam for ‘Umrah?

Answer

Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah and his family.

The people of Makkah should enter ihraam for ‘Umrah from outside the Haram, such as at al-Tan’eem. If they live in al-Hada during the summer, they should enter ihraam from where they are, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, when he defined the meeqaats: “… and whoever is closer than that should enter ihraam from where he sets out, and the people of Makkah should enter ihraam from Makkah.” Agreed upon. And it was proven in al-Saheehayn that he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) told ‘Aa’ishah, when she wanted to do ‘Umrah and she was in Makkah, to enter ihraam from outside the Haram.

And Allaah is the Source of strength.
