Leaving blood in the animal after slaughter
Question: 7619
Some meat factories in the
western countries deliberately do not drain the blood from the animal
after slaughter, so that it will weigh more and they will thus make more
money from it. What is the ruling on eating this meat?
Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah and his family.
We
put this question to Shaykh ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Jibreen, may Allaah preserve
him, who answered as follows:
Leaving
the blood in the animal after slaughter and not draining it is haraam and
is not permitted. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Forbidden to you (for food) are: Al-Maytah (dead
animals – cattle-beast not slaughtered), blood…” [al-Maa’idah 5:3]
And
Allaah knows best.
