I read in the book Fiqh al-Sunnah that when there is a rope on which dirty clothes (clothes in which there is some najaasah or impurity) have been hung, one can put clean clothes which are wet on it without washing it first, because that rope has been dried by the action of the sun and wind. What is the correct view?

Hanging out laundry on a rope on which dirty clothes have been hung
Question: 8808
Answer
Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah and his family.
These ropes do not usually absorb the najaasah (impurity), and clothes are not usually put on them except after they have been washed, in which case they are pure (taahir), and they are usually wrung out after being washed, so their wetness is removed or reduced. Even if there is some najaasah present, it dries quickly, and with the sun and the wind the traces of najaasah will be removed and will no longer be noticeable. So there is no need to go to extremes in avoiding it. And Allaah is the source of strength.
