Ruling on sports clothing on which there are symbols of the kuffaar
Question: 105416
What is the ruling on wearing sports clothes in which there are symbols belonging to the kuffar, such as sports jerseys on which there are symbols of Italy or Germany or America, or on which are written the names of some of the kaafir players.
Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah and his family.
Clothing on which there are symbols of the kuffaar is subject
to further discussion, as follows:
1.If these symbols represent the
religion of the kuffaar such as crosses and the like, in this case it is not
permissible to import these clothes or to sell them or to wear them.
2.If these symbols represent
veneration of anyone among the kuffaar, by putting his picture or writing
his name and so on, they are also haraam as stated above.
3.If these slogans do not have to
do with worship or veneration of any person, rather they are permissible
trademarks, then there is nothing wrong with them.
And Allaah is the source of strength. May Allaah send
blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and
Companions.
