Ruling concerning circumcision for a man who becomes Muslim at a mature age
Question: 1163
If a man converts to
Islam and is quite mature in age – i.e., over forty – it is very difficult for
him to be circumcised. Is it OK if he does not follow this particular practice?
Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah and his family.
If circumcision after converting is too difficult, because of his
age, then it is OK if he does not get circumcised. Circumcision should not be insisted on,
lest it turns him away from Islam.
