He works filling out survey forms in another country in return for a fee

Question: 215056

I work via the Internet, through an American website which has some surveys about products and services in America. I answer them in return for payment. It is worth noting that I use an American proxy to show that my website is in America.

Is this work permissible? Please note that I am in Syria, and I employ a number of people to do the same work.

Answer

Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah and his family.

If the aim of the company for whom the surveys are done is to find out the views of people using the product in America that is sold there, then what you and your team are doing by filling in the surveys, pretending that you are living in America, is deceit and does not serve the aims of the company in charge of the surveys, because you are not in America, and you may not be users of these products at all, and even if some of them are to be found in your country, they may have different specifications.

Based on that:

It is not permissible for you to fill out the surveys or to receive payment for that.

May Allah grant us and you good, permissible provision.
