Commentary on Hadith
Is gesturing with the hand when quoting hadiths that speak of the divine attributes tantamount to likening divine attributes to human attributes?
13,725Meaning of the Prophet’s words “There should be no uncertainty (ghiraar) and no greeting in prayer”
11,222In the battle between the Jews and the Muslims at the end of time, the aggressors will be the Jews
305,584Marriage to a mahram woman is a major sin but does not mean that one is an apostate
20,711Why did the Sahaabah use burning with fire as a punishment for some crimes?
To sum up: what may be stated definitively is that the Sahaabah (may Allah be pleased with them) did not deliberately go against the prohibition on punishment by burning. What has been narrated from some of them (concerning that) is either not saheeh (sound), or it is saheeh but they are excused for what they did on the basis of ijtihaad, because they were qualified to engage therein. If the mujtahid strives his utmost to issue a correct verdict and fatwa but makes a mistake, he is rewarded and is not regarded as having sinned. It was narrated from ‘Amr ibn al-‘Aas, that he heard the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) say: “If a judge passes a judgement having striven to reach a decision, and he gets it right, he will have two rewards. If he passes a judgement having striven to reach a decision and he gets it wrong, he will have one reward.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (7352) and Muslim (1716). For more information, please see Sharh al-Kawkab al-Muneer (4/491-492) And Allah knows best.92,368How did the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) cast lots among his wives when he wanted to travel?
37,246Ruling on travelling from a country where the Ebola virus is widespread
Conclusion: If you are leaving this land in order to go back to work, it is permissible according to scholarly consensus, because the aim thereof is not to flee from the epidemic; rather it is travel that is was already planned and intended for the sake of work. And Allah knows best.52,504Commentary on the hadith of Ibn ‘Umar, “Whoever says following every prayer and when he goes to bed, ‘Allahu akbar ‘adad ash-shaf‘i wa’l-witr…’”
47,308Can large numbers be quoted as evidence of truth? And the meaning of the hadith “My ummah will not agree on misguidance”
52,417The wisdom behind Allah, may He be exalted, asking: “Whose is the dominion this Day?”
Conclusion: There is nothing confusing about this question, regardless of who the questioner and responder may be. The purpose behind it is to highlight the greatness of Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, and to confirm that He alone has dominion and power over all creation. Such ways of expression are well known to the Arabs in their language and in their styles of eloquence. And Allah knows best.41,859
