The one who listens to a Surah is not regarded as having read it. So, if a person wants the reward of reading Surat Al-Kahf on Friday, then he has to read it and it is not enough just to listen to it.


Is Listening to Surat Al-Kahf the Same as Reading It?

There is the hope that the one who recites Surat al-Mulk will attain this great virtue and it will intercede for him before Allah and save him from the punishment of the grave. There are reports which speak in particular about giving extra attention to it at night or when going to sleep.


What Surah Protects You from the Punishment of the Grave?

It is recommended to recite certain verses when he goes to bed such as: 1- Ayat Al-Kursiy, 2- the last two verses of Surat Al-Baqarah, 3- Surat Al-Isra’, 4- Surat Az-Zumar, 5- Surat Al-Kafirun, 6- the last three Surahs of the Quran.


Which Verses to Recite before Sleeping?

Is it permissible to have a favourite soorah of the Quran that one recites and listens to a great deal because it has an impact on the heart?

Will the one who had memorised the Qur’aan remember on the Day of Resurrection the verses he had forgotten?

There is no Shar`i basis for reciting Surat Al-Qadr after Wudu and there is nothing in the Sunnah of the Prophet to suggest this.

There is no authentic hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) which would indicate that the one who recites the last 10 verses of Surah Al ‘Imran will have recorded for him the reward of spending the night in worship.
