Women do not have to trot around the Ka`bah or between As-Safa and Al-Marwah and they do not have to uncover one shoulder.

A woman who wants to do Hajj or `Umrah should enter Ihram from the Miqat even if she is menstruating, and she should form the intention of entering Ihram. It is not essential to be free of menses in order to enter Ihram and do Sa`i, but the menstruating woman is not allowed to do Tawaf around the House until she is pure.

A woman who does not have a Mahram to travel with does not have to go for Hajj or `Umrah and she is excused if she does not go. It is prohibited for her to travel for Hajj or for any other reason without a Mahram, and she has to be patient until Allah makes it easy for one of her Mahrams to travel with her.

The menstruating woman is not allowed to do tawaf and she should remain in Makkah until she becomes pure; if she leaves, then she must come back and do tawaf. Ibn Taymiyyah views that if a woman gets her menses and cannot remain in Makkah or come back to it if she leaves before doing tawaf, then either she may have an injection to stop the bleeding, and then do tawaf; or she may put on a sanitary pad to prevent the blood contaminating the mosque, and do tawaf, as this is a case of necessity.
